The Greater Hamilton Safety Council was established in 1942. The Council is a non-profit, non-governmental, public service organization dedicated to safety education and accident prevention.

The Greater Hamilton Safety Council provides educational services and resources in our:

Industrial Division focuses on safety programs and accident reduction in the workplace. Targeting both large and small firms, the division provides quality speakers at monthly breakfast meetings with timely topics such as OSHA standard, confined space, personal protective equipment, accident investigation and ergonomics. The council holds an annual safety awards banquet where companies receive awards for their safety records. We also conduct several seminars each year and also work closely with the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation, Division of Safety and Hygiene.

Fire Division coordinates with local fire departments to develop programming appropriate to fire prevention throughout the area. Breakfast topics frequently pertain to industry needs as well as specific fire department issues. The Council also cooperates with the Hamilton Fire Department in our Fire Prevention Essay Contest and in co-sponsoring the Fire Prevention Parade in October.

Transportation Division meets monthly to discuss traffic concerns for the local area. Law enforcement agencies, city and county departments and businesses attend these meetings. The Mock Crashes for local high schools and “So You Want to Drive a Car” programs for local junior high schools are sponsored by the Transportation Division each year.

School Division addresses issues related to schools, such as playground, bicycle, and bus safety. The Council offers school crossing guard training in cooperation with the Hamilton Police Department and also conducts the Pedestrian Training program for kindergarten and first grade students.

Home Division covers topics addressing the widest variety of home and recreational safety. Topics include falls, fires, health, poisonings and much more. The meetings are held monthly at the Council headquarters.
