The Greater Hamilton Safety Council is a non-profit, non-governmental, public service organization dedicated to safety education and accident prevention. Safety is our only mission, and we accomplish it through our five divisions. The Industrial Division focuses on the workplace, bringing together resources from the Division of Safety & Hygiene, OSHA, experts in specific areas of interest, and our members. Local fire departments convene in the Fire Division, occasionally combining with the Industrial Division as they work with both children and adults in an ongoing effort to prevent fires. Most adults in this country drive automobiles, and virtually everyone rides in one. The Transportation Division reviews area accident statistics and develops programs to appeal to all ages as it promotes education and practical “hands-on” events. The School Division has its hands full with many safety challenges that face the education community. Agenda items include the very traditional school crossing guards and playground safety as well as the more recent concerns about school violence. Finally, the Home Division recognizes the vast potential to make a difference where most of us relax--our homes. Poison control, asbestos, smoke detectors, fall hazards, and much, much more are appropriate topics for this active division. The Council is a tremendous resource for all your safety needs.
